Commercial Description:
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you'll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

On tap at Zingermanns in Ann Arbor on November 28, 2008. With bubbles on the edges! Solid black color, looks lightweight. Lovely red tint at the bottom edge of the glass. Light chocolate-coffee aroma. Flavor is muted with a light bitter. Definite oatmeal style, but with chocolate. Very smooth!

(10/26/08) Bottle at Barcade in Brooklyn. Black-colored with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, some chocolate and vanilla notes. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, chocolate, caramel notes and some oatmeal. Medium-bodied and a very carbonated palate. A nice Stout.

My 500th is something more sentimentally special than rare or exciting. I remember I was up in Grand Rapids for spring break with my girlfriend my senior year of college and I picked this one up at a grocery store. We sat around and drank the sixer on the floor of her dad’s living room, watching an old movie. It’s really a wonderful sweet stout, with a nice big nose and a flavor with a great balance of coffee, cola, licorice and dark chocolate.

Pours a deep black with a tan head that reduces to a small thin layer. Smells strongly of smokey roasted malts A well balanced taste that starts with roasted malts and ends with a hint of chocolate and coffee Really a nice oatmeal stout and would recommend to give this one a try. Itruely enjoyed this beer. Deep, dark and roasty flavor. It’s a beer to sip and savor. I’ll have this one again.
