Commercial Description:
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you'll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Purchased at D’s Six Packs and Dogs/Pittsburgh. Pours black (clear brown with ruby edges when held up to light) with a small, fading light beige head. Pleasant mocha, semi roasty nose. Flavor of roasted malt, a little char, dark chocolate, earthy hop character and some caramel sweetness underneath - but not overly sweet. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and a gentle yet not lifeless carbonation level. Nice stout overall.

Bottle poured to glass. Black brew with a rocky brown head. Smellso of heavily roasted malts, toffee, molasses. Cramy full mouthfeel and toffee. Breif bitters finish and good lacing. A very nice oatmeal stout.

This one pours dark, dark brown out of the glass but settles to black in the glass. The head is small and tan and leaves a small cap with a little bit of lacing. The smell is burnt malts and coffee with a bit of oatmeal and chocolate. The taste is a little bitter with the burnt coffee and bitter chocolate. There’s a little bit more sweetness than in the aroma with some sweet malts and tad bit of nuttiness. The mouthfeel is medium, maybe a little thin for the style, with low carbonation. This is a decent stout but one that probably needs a little more body to be great.

Black pour with a frothy tan head. Semi-sweet chocolate and espresso aroma with a hint of brown sugar and roasted rolled oats. Flavor is pretty exactly what you would expect from the aroma but oddly dulled. The beer smells quite nice but really lets you down when you taste it. Not bad, just not what you are expecting after you take a good whiff. Creamy, medium body with very gentle carbonation and a slightly watery finish.

Pours dark brown with no head. Roasted malts, oats, chocolate malt, dark fruits, and vanilla for an aroma. Thin and light dry body. Roasted oats, bitter cocoa, some vanilla in the flavor. Nice stout, though I wish the body was a bit creamier.

Pretty nice stout. Black pour wtih a small brown head. Aroma is pretty weak, but i do smell the typical coffee and cocao. Some molasses on the nose and togue. Beer is faintly sweet and has some nice balance. Nice beer to try, but not one to seek out on a regular basis.

Tried this @ Hopcat’s. Pours a dark black with a non-existant head with decent lacing on the glass. The aroma is pretty faint... a little chocolate, a hint of coffee. The taste is very smooth. Same hint of coffee with a bit of chocolate. The flavor increases as the beer warms a bit, improving the beer quite a bit.
