Commercial Description:
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you'll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Pour with thin head and dark brown color. Aroma is full of chocolate and caramel. Taste is failrly full and finish is bitter.

It is a little more bitter than most oatmeal stouts I have had. But it still finishes fairly smooth. I am not sure if it is worth the price for a 6 pack (7.99). Good to try though if you enjoy a unique oatmeal stout.

Pours dark brown almost black. If you look at the light through it, there are some reddish hues. A thin light tan head that is gone quickly. The aroma is milk chocolate, and a bit of carbonic roasted coffee. A sort of grainy metallic undertone. A smoky burnt coffee flavor. Tastes like it was cooked on the grill. Not a whole lot of sweetness, but there is some chocolate and coffee. Finishes pretty bitter. Has a full feel in the mouth, but isn’t all that thick. A little oily. Leaves some burnt carbon on the tongue.

Sampled at Cole’s first beer club. Very dark brown but some light shines through the body. Nose is dark toffee, caramel. Falvor is chocolate, lots of grain, cocoa. Sweetish finish.

Misses points on aroma and very little head, but picks up in taste. Great mixture of oatmeal, chocolate and coffee. Nice stout kick with a smooth back side.

Objectively speaking: Straightforward chocolatey, rather thick oatmeal stout.
I like: No roast astringence, yet full on roasted flavours.
I dislike: Not much oatmeal influence. Light-medium bodied for the style. Not all that aromatic.

Very nutty aroma. Light tasting and refreshing for a stout. Tastes like a sweet porter. Nutty, roasted malt flavor. Very smooth and drinkable. Some bitterness in the taste, but a lightly sweet finish. Nice balance of sweetness and bitterness.

Poured really dark, came out thick too; only a little bit of tan head resting at the top of it. Smelled like a stout, vaguely chocolatey, roasted malts, and an underlying hoppy aroma. Tasted great, had the initial "stout kick" but the oatmeal smoothed it out nicely. This was a great, well balanced stout that I could drink time and time again. Serving type: bottle
