Commercial Description:
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you'll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Pours black with light ruby edges and a short lived tan head and some lacing. Smell is roasty malt and creamy milkiness. Taste is roasty, creamy, sweet malt. Kind of milky again, and a nice rich body on it. Light to medium carbonation and a touch of a chalky flavor at the end. Almost a peanut buttery creaminess and flavor as well. Pretty nice!

Deep cola color, not what I expected out of an oatmeal stout. Decent lacing and creamy brussels around glass. Malt sweetness then raisiny carmely mellowy goodness. Nutty then clean finish. Thin for style but very drinkable.

This beer is brown with ruby highlights. It has a tan head and nice lacing. It smells like chocolate, coffee, and just a little bit like booze. My first impression is watery. It is very lightly carbonated and feels watery in my mouth. The flavor is also a little watery. The flavor is weak and unimpressive. A little bit of coffee flavor and a little bit of the oatmeal taste, but mostly it tastes like flat seltzer. I am dissappointed by this beer that tries to conjures up allusions of Edgar Allen Poe. I expected something with a lot more umph. Something like an axe to the face, in the good Poe-ish sort of way. This beer might be good for a hangover on a Sunday morning, accompanied by a bowl of fiber cereal or wheat toast.

Pours a dark black with brown highlights and a thin tan head that quickly dissipates. Nose is musty, earthy, with strong coffee notes and a wooden smokiness, like the smell of a campfire on a cold night. Not too heavy on the palate but smooth, with added body from oats along with a correlative cereal taste, a mild vanilla sweetness and again a dominant oaken smoke character. Finishes very faintly medicinal, with a lingering but gentle herbal bitterness. A pretty decent sweet stout.

Pours a dark chocolatey brown with a small tan head. The nose is coffe and chocolate with a twinge of licorice. The flavor follows through with nice coffee and slight nuttiness. Nice little hoppy bitterness on the finish.

distinctive roasted malt flavor and noticable creaminess/oatmeal flavor. Light hop profile. Very "true to style" beer. Oatmeal stouts are my favorite and this one was very good.

Had this on draft at Magoos. Very nice tasting stoudt, with lots of buttery notes and aroma and not at all like the bottle I had earlier which was quite earthy and a little high in carbonation. dark color , lots of malt and a stonger hint of hops
