Commercial Description:
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you'll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

(Bottle) Pours a inky dark brown color with a small brown head. Aroma of roasted grain, toffee, and coffee. Good amount of oatmeal notes in here as well. Chocolate notes in the finish. Average mouthfeel and palate. I enjoyed this beer.

Pours a dark cola to chocolate brown. Considerable transparency is evident when backlit. A small, foamy, light tan colored head settles quickly to a thin layer. Large swaths of sheet like lacing coat the glass well. The aroma is roasty, with light baker’s chocolate, coffee, and toasted barley. Surprisingly, a heavy dose of resinous pine and green, grassy hops come through on a deep inhale. The flavor confirms this green, hoppy component, as it does with the bittersweet, dry, roasty malt components. The mouthfeel is on the light side, especially for the style, with a fizzy carbonation tickling the tongue and lingering for a good while. Finishes medium-long, with almost an IPA-like, grassy finish. Not at all what I was expecting, but pretty drinkable. Sort of resembles a poor man’s Stone 11th more than a sweet stout.

Draught at Maproom. Black with thin tan head. Nice stout, pretty robust flavors for an oatmeal stout. Very nice.

Not a bad stout! Nice and sweet with a fine coffee taste. The smell though is outrageous! I could smell this all day! The bottle caught my eye and Im so glad I got the last sixer!

Not the best stout I have ever had. Probably would never buy again but had a strong taste and didn’t really stand out to me in a good or a bad way.

Poured a dark brown/black with a medium brown head. Not as much flavor as I would have expected from a stout. Tasted of light chocolate, coffee, grain. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy again. Still not a bad beer at all.
