Commercial Description:
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you'll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

nearly full bodied , though a little thin around the edges. aromas of roasted barley, chocolate, malt overall pretty solid. well made for sure, probably would have gone great with their chili.

poured out see through brownish ruby colored with a finger thick head that was of white mocha colored which was bubbly but thick. there is lacing around around the glass and the head fell fast but "slowly". you can tatse bitter sweet chocolate and roasted coffee which all go together very well. it finishes really nice with a plesent aftertaste which will please your palate.

BPW #67 On tap at New Holland Brewing Company. Appearance is medium roast coffee brown. Nice roasted coffee nose that follows through into the flavors. Toasted oatmeal takes over as the driving force of the flavors with a nice subtle coffee undertone. A nice dry mouth too.

Dan’s Bachelor Party Extended Weekend Rating #63 of 90. On tap at New Holland in Holland, MI. Pours black/brown with ruby edges. Roasted malts and oatmeal are evident, and it is semi-smooth in taste. One of their better offerings.

For a sweet this one was really good. Aroma had notes of coffee, roasted malt, oats and nuts. Flavor had quite a bit of oats with roasted malt, coffee and sweet toffee blending nicely. Mouthfeel was smooth and creamy.

Pours a deep translucent brown with a creamy but small head. The aroma was at first muted to the point of basic non-existence because of the remarkably low serving temperature, as it warmed there were hints of roasty coffee and some molasses, very pleasant. The flavor had hints of raw coco, a nice fruitiness, and some good coffee. The oatmeal shines through on this one more prevalently than it usually does in a beer dubbed an "oatmeal stout". The palate is full and creamy.

Pours nice and dark, very nice sized head and leaves a generous lace as it disappears. Is it possible to smell thick? If so, here it is. Milk, Chocolate, and a very light scent of roasted malts are present. Oats are also in the mix. Tastes matches the smell closely, very creamy and chocolatey. With the medium to thick body and light carbonation, this is a damn good combination. I would absolutely have this again, although I must say as a downside it doesn’t have much to distinguish it from beers of a similar style.
