Commercial Description:
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you'll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Beautiful black stout. Lots of roast flavor and aroma. Limited hop bitterness. Not overly sweet, which is a plus for me.

From 12oz Bottle. Dark brown, lightly transparent pour with a subtle ruby tinge and a thin layer of light tan head that quickly recedes to a dusty layer left on top. Nice, malty aroma with some notes of biscuit, light chocolate, and a dry whiff of roasted barley. Quite a bit of cocoa, actually. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated mouthfeel, a bit on the thin side. A touch of caramel and toffee stand out an the palate initially, along with some chocolate nougat. A bit of dry, roasted coffee rounds out the finish. Flavors are a bit thin, but respectable and pleasantly balanced overall. Thanks, Tom!

12 oz pours black with a medium chocolatey head. Very bready chocolate aroma with a little roastedness around the edges. The flavor is much the same a bold smooth creamy chocolate roastiness thats doughy and medium bodied. The flavor fades to a bitter lightly tanic coffee flavor that finishes long but comes too soon.

Very dark brown color with a tan head that disappears fairly quickly. Aromas of chocolate, coffee and roasted maltiness. Flavors match the aromas with a nice, long creamy finish. Well-balanced and surprisingly easy drinking.

<!-- p -->Stopping by the European Bakery, I grab a sack of florentines. I mingle over the oat bread, wafting the fresh baked aroma to my nostrils. A rotund Hungarian sets out a fresh tray of caramel pecan clusters. Wax falls from a candle. It’s black wax, with a heath luster. The flame glows ivory. I sit down with a bowl of filberts and a bottle of natural Root Beer. The sweet honey glow and the long draw of caramel and toast is soothing. The maid sets down a fresh vase of Carnations and it bites my tongue with dryness. Some english toffee crackles out of a baking dish and is dipped with dark chocolate. On the runaway, I think of a pearlescent creamed hazlenut butter, blended expertly with Mexican coffee and pinocillo. <!-- p -->This is a nicely clean and average stout. Not phenomenal, not detracting. Smooth, creamy, with some good oats, caramel sugars and toothy grains. Almost a perfect session stout. I enjoy the tinge of Euro hops on the backend. Quite pleasent.
