Commercial Description:
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you'll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Was in the mood for a stout, but nothing too rich and I was pleased that I picked this one out from our stash. Pours a somewhat oily pitch black with a medium tan head that goes to a thick film around the edges. The aroma is very pleasant..coffee beans, bakers chocolate, and a bit of smoke. The flavor certainly has all of the characteristics the aroma has, but none of any flavor is over the top, but coffee comes out the most...there seems to be some dark fruit notes in there as well. This is a toasty beer, somewhat malty over the tounge...some short juicy aspects with a light, smokey, dry finish. Not a bad little stout...a very good dessert beer or night cap for that matter...just a good way to polish off the night without too many complications.

Black color with smallish creamy tan head. Aroma is creamy, malty, notes of currants. Flavor is full of roasted barley, hints of vanilla, with a mix of bitter malts and bitter hops in the finish.

dark pour w/ hints of reds and a nice full tan creamy head w/ some nice lace. Aroma is very nice, some sweet fruits fig and possibly plum w/ a good roasty malt and some light coffee and chocolates. Palate is lightly creamy fairly well coated. Flavor is a chocolate w/ hints of coffee and some light sweet sugars. Very sweet. a good sweet stout but not a style I like very much.

Aroma is like very sweet caramel, sugary, malty. Flavour is not too exciting, like watery coffee. Average beer.

Looks like a promising stout. Dark with a fairly dense creamy head. Smells like roasty yeast with hints of sweet coffee. The palate is a little thin for a stout, though not unpleasant. Sweet and roasty, I can’t taste much of the chocolate hint they claim is in here, but still decent. Not a lot of dimensions to the flavor, but not at all unpleasant, very drinkable.

Deep black with ruby highlights (in bright sunlight), a thin head faded but lingered above as a tan halo. Striking aromas as coffee with light fruitiness (but the fruits just seem to get in the way of the great coffee roastiness). Awesome depth of flavor with the persistent coffee persona beneath light sweetness within a full body that carries the roasts to their full potential. Like this review, New Holland Poet was quite a mouthful.

12 oz bottle from Woodmans

Creamy tan head protected a deep black body. Scents of chocolate, oatmeal, grains and roastd coffee beans. First impression was of oatmeal, grain, barley and coffee. Soon after picked up smoky and chocolately tones. Mildly chewy. Dry, smooth creamy finish. Very pleasant to drink.

12 oz bottle. Thin white lacing, fell in on itself. Sweet, smokey flavor. A hint of alcohol. Actually, quite tasty. It’s worth a shot!
