SturmWulf (63), USA Aug 3, 2007 Nice aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, molasses, coffee and banana (!). Poured a nice black, with a good creamy tan head that slowly receded into a creamy cap. Left nice lacing. Taste of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, milk chocolate. Medium body with creamy and oily texture. Soft carbonation. Unique finish that is sweet chocolate, then mild coffee in a long mildly bitter finish. A very nice stout. I will definitely buy again. A very good job by New Holland in what I consider to be a very unique stout. Served in a Pint.
Nate (2239), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2008 From bottle. Light coffee aroma with mild dark chocolate, carbonic gaseousness, licorice and some lactic sweetness. Twizzlers and some molasses. Dark brown-black clear with thin off-white lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body with medium carbonation and carbonic acidity. Starts with a bit of chocolate and coffee, burnt sugar and molasses sweetness. Licorice. A tad smoky. Pretty good bittering in the finish, leaving you with a nutty-bitter-chocolate taste. aoa56 (18), zeeland, Michigan, USA Aug 31, 2008 Pours a nice black with almost no head. Smells a little like roast coffee. Smooth refreshing nose and faint chocolate, carmel? aftertaste. A little watery compared to what i usually like in a stout, but not a bad flavor. Ottscay (4), Mason, Michigan, USA does not count Aug 30, 2008 Bottle (purchased from The Vault). The flavor is outstanding. There is a strong, chocolate-toffee-like flavor, coupled with a roasted, earthy palate. Finishes with a great stout flavor. jasonp (1441), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Aug 29, 2008 Purchased at D’s Six Packs and Dogs/Pittsburgh. Pours black (clear brown with ruby edges when held up to light) with a small, fading light beige head. Pleasant mocha, semi roasty nose. Flavor of roasted malt, a little char, dark chocolate, earthy hop character and some caramel sweetness underneath - but not overly sweet. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and a gentle yet not lifeless carbonation level. Nice stout overall. Baumgartner (66), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Aug 28, 2008 Bottle poured to glass. Black brew with a rocky brown head. Smellso of heavily roasted malts, toffee, molasses. Cramy full mouthfeel and toffee. Breif bitters finish and good lacing. A very nice oatmeal stout.
