boFNjackson (502), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 18, 2008 PIB, tap... Poured dark, reddish/brown with a beige head. Aroma is very unique, like bitter, tart cheese and cocoa. Palate is intense and assaults the mouth (one that clears the nasal passage way). Flavors of warming, smooth alcohol while buttery toffee-malt that comes to play, and some bittering hops. Nice to take slow and very enjoyable.

Taste like candy and goes down easy. When it comes to barleywine the darker the better in my opinion and this one is very dark. Very strong beer that gives you a good kick in the mouth up front and in the aftertaste. Strong taste of cedar, burbon, and hops. Light tan head on a dark brown, barely translucent body. thick in the mouth a little under carbonated. a desert beer--dark cherry, dark milk chocolate & caramel. could use just a bit of hop edge & a shade more malt complexity
