Commercial Description:
The favorite Lompoc barleywine. It's a barleywine! The initial brew had to have a second batch brewed just to balance (id est-Dilute).

Pours very dark for a barleywine, redish brown. Nice and malty with a well balanced flavor. Taste like candy and goes down easy. When it comes to barleywine the darker the better in my opinion and this one is very dark. Very strong beer that gives you a good kick in the mouth up front and in the aftertaste. Great beer!!!

PIB, tap... Poured dark, reddish/brown with a beige head. Aroma is very unique, like bitter, tart cheese and cocoa. Palate is intense and assaults the mouth (one that clears the nasal passage way). Flavors of warming, smooth alcohol while buttery toffee-malt that comes to play, and some bittering hops. Nice to take slow and very enjoyable.

Chestnut brown, opaque. Milk chocolate nose with light alcohol and toasty hops. Rather bitter, with some toasty, chocolate malts. Fun stuff. A bit boozy...but a tasty finish.

Sampled at the 2008 barleywine festival in portland... pours a dark brown with a red hue, no head whatsoever, i think because it was brewed in 1998, it lost most of its carbonation. Strong taste of cedar, burbon, and hops. Smooth as silk and no taste of alcohol whatsoever. awesome barleywine.

draft at the Bottom. aroma of plums, brown sugar, oak. Light tan head on a dark brown, barely translucent body. thick in the mouth a little under carbonated. a desert beer--dark cherry, dark milk chocolate & caramel. could use just a bit of hop edge & a shade more malt complexity
