JoeM500 (1877), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Oct 7, 2007 Draft sample at hedge hoouse, Portland. Dirty copper with thin white head. Nutty aroma and some sour notes in the nose and initial flavor. Thin but satisfying, nothing bad, but that sour kept showing. The grapefruit (although light) flavor of the hops shared with the almond extract-like dryness at the finish. Interesting. I almost ordered a pint to further investigate, but that C-note was punishing my palate.
stchloe (96), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 1, 2008 Forward the Revolution. What a red ale, hoppier than its capitalist brethren. A little harder to find on tap. Ungstrup (11075), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 21, 2008 Draft. A hazy amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet hoppy. The flavor is sweet malty combined with a note of hops, leading to a dry bitter finish. ndubs360 (57), portland, Oregon, USA Jun 20, 2008 Tap at bailys taproom in portland. Pours a deep reddish color with a white head. Tastes of sweet sweet malt. The barrel aging really shined bright in this one. I could not taste much hops in this brew, only malts, sweet malts to be exact. hotstuff (3038), Indiana, USA Feb 1, 2008 Draft at New Old Lompoc Brewery, Portland, OR. Small ivory head that was mostly lasting, virtually no lacing, transparent, no carbonation observed, and a red hue. Nose was malty, caramel, hoppy, and nutty. Flavor was sweet, malty, nutty, and hoppy. Mouthfeel was smooth. Medium body. Quaffable, decent brew.
