Commercial Description:
A traditionally mellow English hop character. Along with a beautiful mahogany color come together in this especially drinkable brown ale. Pleasant hints chocolate and caramel linger in the finish.

As explained to me the New South Beers are styled with an american influence. This may be why some of the post I have read are not favorable. I personally quite enjoy their Brown Ale. Very drinkable with just the right amount of maltiness and hop. A beer that I can drink lots of. Kudos to the boys at New South!

very weak flavor. carries a sweet taste, but not much hop at all. still a pretty decent beer, but the taste is just a little weak. be a good beer to get drunk off of because of the week tasting flavor

On tap at Pearlz Oyster Bar in Charleston’s Historic District. Poured a brownish-red color with a thin off-white cap that disippated quickly but actually left decent lacing. Very faint aroma that was nutty-caramel and malt. Mouthfeel was fairly thin and tingly, and unfortunately, the faintness of the nose was even less noticeable in the taste The finish was a bit on the dry side. Not a bad beer, just no real positives. Would probably make an okay session beer.

Pours a predictable reddish brown with thin off-white head. Aroma of slight hops, caramel, and nuts. Flavor is no surprise. Overall a very drinkable brown ale, but forgettable.

22oz draft at Dick’s Last Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC. Pours brown with a fair tan head. Aroma of nuts, some caramel and brief hops. Flavor is caramel and nutty but actually not very robust. Palate is light and airy. Very drinkable just a little lacking in flavor and body though.

On tap at the Flying Saucer in Charlotte. Poured a clear brown with no head to speak of. Aroma was slightly fruity. Flavor and mouthfeel was very sour and had almost no body for a darker ale. Not what I’m looking for in a brown ale - needs more body and some maltiness or nuttiness.

Draught. Clear brown color with thin off white head. Weak aroma overall with some brown sugar and sprucy hops. Flavor is nutty and earthy with brown sugar and a touch of sprucy hop flavor. Nothing to write home about.

doesnt resemble a brown ale except for the fact that it is brown. not much malt, not much hop, not much flavor. pretty weak all in all. sampled at brewgrass 04 on draught.
