Yellow-to-brown head covers the darkest brown glow. Aromas are quite straightforward, limited mostly to cocoa and coffee with a whisper of floral hops. Foamy palate is oatmealish and highly alcoholic. Very hot in mouth, it seems to focus more on its ABV than actual malt flavours. A bit raw and aggressive.

GABF 2004: Full darkness lack of color, and almost opaque with a thin tan head. Aroma is malty sweet and roasty with some noticeable acidity. Nice malty and dark fruity complex body could use a touch more thickness. Finishes bittersweet and hides its alcohol very well. A nicely balanced beer that could use a little bulking up.

GABF 2004 - Light whiskey nose, creamy espresso and toffee. Butterscotch flavor and heavy on the coffee resemblance. Sour finish with some milky qualities. Quite good. Deep black body with a large, medium brown head with a nice swirling dark-to-light pattern going on.

Draught. Body is black. Aroma is heavily malty (chocolate, caramel, roasted grain, coffee), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a note of vanilla, hint of alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Delicious straightforward Imperial with an enormous malt nose and excellent balance.
