Commercial Description:
The '02 represents the third edition of our limited release beer. As in the past, this beer has been brewed with a completely new recipe and follows no particular style guidelines. Again, the 20 barrels of limited production '02 was aged for almost a year before it was released. This year's version is made with a single malt, Marris Otter, which our brewers believe to be the best in the world. In addtion, a variety of hops were added to achieve the 100 IBUs (International Bitterness Units) which creates a distinctive yet surprisingly smooth bite. As always, this product will improve with time, so find a few and enjoy them for years to come. It is extremely limited, extremely strong, and extremely original, because as we like to say around here: "It's All About Extremes."

Bottle at Toncatchers. A big thanks to Dennis for this one. Brown pour with a small off-white head. The nose was big and bold with earthy nuts and a dried fruits. The flavor was also big--with toffee, hazelnuts, almonds, fresh and dried fruits, oak, vanilla and caramel. The palate was full and smooth. Overall: Clearly the best BW of the night! I loved it.

Toncatchers 2. Malt and yeast on the nose. Very even scent. Super hazy orange with almost no lace. Taste is warm and smooth. Vanilla, malt, and dark fruit. Subtle. I liked this one better than the 01. Thanks Dennis.

Bottle shared at toncatchers "nothing sour, nothing hoppy" tasting. I thought this one was the best BW of the night. I liked the raisin fig and sugars in this one.

Bottle at Toncatcher’s. Glad Dennis finally got to open this, as he’s wanted to open for the last 10 tastings. Pours orangey amber brown with no head. Sweet, malty nose. Taste is sweet malty and big, nice!

Sampled today. Soft caramelly Flavors with a very nice, pleasant burnt sugar theme riding through. The color here was a dark golden and the nose of aged caramel. The mouthfeel was delicate and fluffy. Sorry for the loss of words, feel free to give me another sample for a re-rate. Thanks, Jorge.

Bomber from puzzl (Aug 2007 trade) Guess it is really well aged now! Nose is very oaky woodiness, raisins, and prunes. Hazy dark amber with a very small beige head. Flavor is a lot of prunes and raisins and very woody. Very smooth with no hint of the 100IBUs in the finish of lightly sweet dark fruit. Would have loved to try this fresh!
