Dec 29, 2008 Vintage 2002 bottle sampled in 2007. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Very oxidized but there are some good qualities still. Alcohol latent dark fruit plum, citrus, and some faint floral hops in the background. Lightly viscous body but still somehow thin and salty. not bad.

Nov 30, 2008 btl by Ross. Medium brown hazed pour. Deep brown sugar and lite citrus hops. Super sweet with a light to medium bitter. Med/full bodied with light carbonation. Very solid beer. thanks Ross

Pours a clear brown with an off-white head.
Complex aroma that speaks of dark dried fruits, vanilla with a molasses base.
The flavor is complex and follows the aroma nicely.
Smooth, full bodied, and and excellent sipper. One of the better ones.

Sep 29, 2008 Bottle shared by Ross. Poured a hazed orange with an off-white head that has some lasting and light lacing. Molasses aroma with a slight fruity background. Sweet flavor of brown sugar with hints of chocolate and dark fruits. Medium body, smooth and enjoyable.

Sep 22, 2008 Bottle from Tom which he traded me before he moved down here. Thanks Tom. I have drank this one before but I was really hammered and couldnt get a rating from it. So now, I opened my own bottle and got a good sample and thank God - wasnt hammered. Pours out an orange color with a nice white head on it. Smell is full of vanilla, oak, sugars, and surprisingly, a little bit of hops. The taste is smooth and rich, very easy to drink - hops are faded from the taste but still somewhat present in the nose. Very interesting. Not over the top as it probably was when it was first produced. This is a killer beer, one of my favorites of the evening.

Sep 21, 2008 Bottle shared by Ross at my Oxidationfest 1.0 tasting. Thanks Ross, I have been bugging you about this for a long time. Pours an orange amber with a small off white head. Nice, but typical barley wine aroma of fruity esters, cherry, alcohol and sugary malts. Medium to full bodied, bordering on a rich texture. Flavor of caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruit. Some sherry notes that have crept in, but works with this beer. Finish is warming, but alcohol is tame considering the ABV

Sep 20, 2008 Oxidationfest Tasting at illinsmittys curtesy of ross. Nice barlywine. Very mellow but still has apparent alcohol. Aroma is caramel and brown sugar. Pours a burnt orange with wispy thin light tan head. Sweet flavor, honey, caramel. Very good barleywine

Aug 12, 2008 25.4 oz bottle. Murky brown with creamy ivory edging. Nose is caramel, blackberry and apple. Wonderfully spicy and complex. Medium light, but saturated, with a faint tingle. Taste is dark berries, maple and melon with a slightly bitter, grassy finish. A finely mellowed sipper. Thanks to Alldaydrinker for this oldie.
