Commercial Description:
The fifth iteration of our annual limited beer series, ‘04, features a new look and some more premium ingredients. First, ‘04 is the lightest in color of the limited beers that we have created. However, to assume that it is less intense than our previous versions would be a mistake. In order to balance out the ample European Pils malt in this pale colored lager we have used the four Noble hops (Hallertau, Tettenanger, Spalt, and Saaz). For centuries these hops have been singled out in the brewing industry for their superior qualities and, in ‘04, provide an exceptionally complex bitterness and aroma. It is this special combination that creates, yet, another unique brew. It is extremely limited, extremely strong, and extremely original, because as we like to say around here: “It’s All About Extremes!” 14.0% Alcohol by Volume.

This beer looks like apple cidar when poured out. There is no head to it at all and has a very weak smell ot it. There are some smells of mild fruits and some toffee. As you drink it you get a strong taste of booze in the begining which dies down and then you start to taste mild hops and toffee. Ther is also a lot of spice to it. I think if i had opened this when it was first brewed i would not have enjoyed it as much.

Bottle shared by moejuck at C-Bus 6 thanks! Orange pour with no head. Aroma of sweet malt, rasin, candied fruit...all things english style barley wine...a bit of booze as well. THe flavor was quite hot....a bit too hot with some artificial orange and swee malt. Almost no carbonation, sweet and hot throughout witha boozey/medicinal finish. A nice effort, though it needs to rest for a century or two.

Bottle shared by moejuck and spector. Poured a medium brown with no head really at all. Tastes like some european hops. It was really hot though. It tastes like caramel and apples and alcohol. Not too bad but just tough to drink because of the alcohol.

Bottle. This has mellowed out a lot. Brown color with little to no head. Very malty. Not a lot of hop presence but what is there balances nicely.

Bottle shared at Columbus Tasting 6 by moejuck and spector - Pours hazy dark amber with not much head. Aromas of citrus, grapefruit, pine, some bannana, and some kind of perfume aroma. Flavor is apple, caramel, orange, and some brown bannana at the back blended with alcohol. Not much carbonation in this one.. Kind of sticky and very warm on the finish.

Bottle shared by moejuck at C-Bus 6: Cloudy amber color with no head. Aroma, alcohol, peaty, some caramel, and a hint of really brown bananas. Flavor, caramel, some fruits, kind of an over ripe/rotten fruit quality. A pretty good amount of heat on this one.

Thanks to Boboski for sending this to me. Caramel malt, alcohol, and some brown banana in the nose. Hazy copper in color with a medium palate. Light heat, but not bad for a 14% beer. Caramel malt flavor dominates--but that’s about all you get. Overall it was unimpressive.
