| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2008 Bottle courtesy of growler. Pours brownish with off white head. Strong raspberry aroma. Flavor is sweet chocolate and caramel with big raspberry tartness. Very different, but good. Medium body with average carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Beerlando (2340), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 10, 2008 Courtesy growler. Aged 3 years. Pours a really dark chocolate brown color with a small, swirly, cream colored head. Spotty lacing marks the glass. The aroma is very chocolaty and fruity, with raspberry asserting itself aggressively. Caramel, dark fruits, vanilla, and mild dark spices complete the nose. The flavor is sweet up front from the chocolate and caramel, but the raspberry lends a tart element that is welcomed. Very fruity, overall. The mouthfeel is big and round, its lack of carbonation working well here. This reminds me of Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock in alot of ways. Really nice brew. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 10, 2008 Courtesy Growler. Pours a dark caramel brown, with a small off white head. Smells of heavy fruits, with raspberry really standing out for me. Syrupy sweet on the palate. The flavor is pretty creamy and smooth, big vanilla and dark fruit belnd together fairly nicely. Little bitter in the finish of it. Not a bad brew, maybe a little too much alcohol heat pounding on you the whole way through though. Otherwise, decent. mcbackus (751), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2008 750ml I bought on a recent trip to RI for a Reunion. Shared with bikesandbeer, dalekliz, and my gf cyn. Pours dark maroon with a half finger tan head. Nose is very nice with lots of caramel sweet and rich. Taste is sweet some of the choco and a touch of the razz mentioned in the commercial description. This is a strange beer, not sure how I feel about it. I don’t hate it as much as Dany (glougoburg). Overall its pretty good and well interesting. IrishBoy (2716), Bakersfield, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 19, 2008 Cobalt blue bomber from aladydrinker! Nose is like a very sweet barleywine; molassey boysenberries, prunes, and chocolate; clear red-brown with a small beige head; flavor has raisins, medium sweetness, this reminds me of the SA Triple Bocks I have had that don’t have the soy notes only weaker and tamed down. Decent ASA or barleywine! Glouglouburp (2853), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | May 8, 2008 In short: An ultra-sweet syrupy fruity flat beer. Not gross but not far from it.
How: Vintage bottle (by now 2+ years old) from tertons, thanks a lot Nelson. Shared with the Montreal crew
The look: Cloudy dark brown body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Nose of fruity dessert. Taste is sweet, very sweet, very very sweet. Brown sugar, something that resembles raspberry-concentrate try to blend with the chocolaty maltiness. A syrupy mouthfeel hinting on tree sap. Carbonation is very flat. And to think that in this trade Nelson offered The Abyss and I said “no I already have three of them, can you send me a Newport 05 instead”. I don’t even think that “The stuff I pick stuff from my nose taste salty” would have been a more stupid and shameful answer.
