Jul 31, 2007 Deep and murky mahogany body with almost no head other than some bubbles around the edges. Malts meet the nose first: Rich and robust. Chocolate. Caramel sweetness. Berries. Hints of hops. Nice complexity. Full bodied and syrupy. Moderately sweet taste, warm alcohol feel in the swallow. Another that would do well put aside to age.

Jul 30, 2007 RBSG 2007 Grand Tasting. Hazy brown with no head. Much like the ’04, fruity and brown sugary, but this one adds just less alcohol burn. Good stuff.

Jul 8, 2007 Another nice treat from hellomynameis who brought in a vertical of Newport Storm 03 through 06 to the RBSG ’07 Grand Tasting. This one was finally cracked open after midnight (I lost track of time after midnight). The 2005 Vintage pours a near opaque dark brown brew with a fast dissolving light tan head. Aroma of light chocolate, yeast, peaches, a touch of brown sugar and raspberries. Taste is sweet and fruity, with flavors of chocolate, caramel, and some herbal berries. Texture is full bodied with a light toasted chocoalte malt aftertaste, then much bitterness. Another high alcohol created a very warm sensation.

Jul 8, 2007 25.4oz bottle-pours a disappearing tan head and murky brown color. Aroma is cocoa, dark/medium fruit, secondary spicy-hops. Taste is cocoa, medium malt, dark/medium fruit-vinuous, secondary spicy-hops. Nice, warming.

Jul 7, 2007 Dark brown color. Sweet and fruity aroma. Some almost belgian yeast qualities in the flavor and aroma. The body is good, not too thick. Sweet sugary flavors with a lot of malt.

Jul 3, 2007 I don’t remember liking this as much as my numbers show, at least not as much as the 04. Aroma has sweet fruit, some apple, peach, and raisin. The alcohol is much cooler, it doesn’t have the burn. Flavor is sugar and malt. Scarcely any hops, which I expect from an American Strong Ale.

Jul 1, 2007 RBSG 2007 Dark and thin, smells sweet and then taste bitter YIKES unexpected. I think it is weird that Lumpy says it taste like rodent nest and tootsie rolls!

Jun 30, 2007 RBSG07. From 75 cL blue bottle. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is slight citric. Flavour is raisin and mild citric at once. Very nice flavour, enjoyable. Raisin sweet to dry finish.
