Aroma of sweet malt, caramel malt, a bit of booze and candied fruit. Flavor held some earthy hops, more caramel malt and candied fruit. Thick mouthfeel...malty throughout...some light bitterness here and there and a sweet finish. bgburdman9 (823), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 20, 2007 Updated: Mar 21, 2007Bottle sampled on 11/1/06: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a thin, wispy off-white head. Has a complex, sweet, dark caramel malty and brown sugar raisin aroma. Body starts viscous and caramely sweet with a good, complex soy and brown sugar dark fruitiness. Finishes with a fair amount of warmth and lingering sweetness, but still pretty well balanced and should age very well. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 13, 2007 Sampled at the O-Town throwdown. Poured amber with almost no head. It has a fairly standard barleywine aroma with date, fig and plum like dark fruitiness. The flavor is really smooth with notes of plums, dates, cherries and hints of sweet malts. The taste ends almost velvety smooth. This beer is dangerously easy drinking. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 5, 2007 A peculiar ale. Bought locally. A vigorous pour left little head that faded quickly. The colour was an odd peanut with ruby hue that could be seen when held to the light. The smell was like nothing I’ve encountered before. I covered broad spectrum of scents, including chipoltle, plum, candied apple or peach, BOOZE, clove, and some other dark fruits. Tasted of Caramel, molases, spice, earthy stuff, peach, apricot, booze, and some underlying chocolate. A real sipper and damn good. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 4, 2007 Courtesy boboski (I think); my seventh beer sampled at the O-Town Throwdown. Dark brown in color with ruby tints, very faint head. Medium-bodied. Aroma is pepper, spice, peach, raisin, dark pit fruit, malt. Taste has spice character as well, some pepper and robust spice, some sweeter dark fruits like dates or apricots. I really liked this beer - it featured a dark, spicy profile and almost no hop character. The 11.7% is pretty well hidden. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA
