Commercial Description:
For the sixth year we have faithfully produced the next edition in our impressive series of annual limited beers. Copious amounts of Pale, Chocolate, and Munich malts gives the mouthfeel to this brew. Additionally, twenty pounds of East African Cocoa combines with subtle raspberry flavors to accentuate the beer's creative backbone. Though not laden with hop bitterness, we chose the Perle hop's mild spice and sweetness to complement the chocolate in this ale. Unusual care and a year of aging, as well as hand corking and a never to be used again recipe give this beer a signature flavor which should only improve with time. It is extremely limited, extremely strong, and extremely original, because as we like to say around here "It's All About Extremes!" 11.7% Alcohol by Volume.

Sampled at post-DLD dinner at Charlies Ale House in Munster, IN. Pours a muddy brown with a thin, wispy, beige head. On the nose is cocoa, raspberry and alcohol. Medium-bodied and slick with a "warm" dry finish. The flavor follows the nose with a tart, lightly acidic and woody-dry finish. An interesting and fairly tasty brew.

At Vero. Dark brown with sediment, particles. Cherry nose, with rum too. Low carbonation. Slight bourbon flavors, a tad sweet.

Bottle courtesy of growler. Pours brownish with off white head. Strong raspberry aroma. Flavor is sweet chocolate and caramel with big raspberry tartness. Very different, but good. Medium body with average carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel.

Courtesy growler. Aged 3 years. Pours a really dark chocolate brown color with a small, swirly, cream colored head. Spotty lacing marks the glass. The aroma is very chocolaty and fruity, with raspberry asserting itself aggressively. Caramel, dark fruits, vanilla, and mild dark spices complete the nose. The flavor is sweet up front from the chocolate and caramel, but the raspberry lends a tart element that is welcomed. Very fruity, overall. The mouthfeel is big and round, its lack of carbonation working well here. This reminds me of Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock in alot of ways. Really nice brew.

Courtesy Growler. Pours a dark caramel brown, with a small off white head. Smells of heavy fruits, with raspberry really standing out for me. Syrupy sweet on the palate. The flavor is pretty creamy and smooth, big vanilla and dark fruit belnd together fairly nicely. Little bitter in the finish of it. Not a bad brew, maybe a little too much alcohol heat pounding on you the whole way through though. Otherwise, decent.
