Dec 19, 2007 Aroma pretty pungent, alcohol, molasses and dark fruits. Some bitterness and sticky sweetness. Taste is pretty much the same. A bit hot but has nice flavors of vanilla and oak with sugar and spice and everything nice.

Dec 18, 2007 Bottle shared at Madness. Poured a murky muddy orange brown with a slight bubbly white head. Malty sweet aroma of honey, raisins and alcohol. Thin to medium bodied with virtually no carbonation. Sweet flavor of caramel, vanilla, grains and bread. Really enjoyed the flavor but the body needs some more well body.

Dec 18, 2007 YEHA tasting. Hazy deep amber in color. Aroma was alot of caramel, some dark fruits, smoke, bourbon. Taste: Alot of caramel and crystal malt sweetness with oak, some peat smoke, vanilla, and a good dose of bourbon. Still a bit hot and rough around the edges; I think aging is going to make this an awesome beer.

Dec 17, 2007 750ml bottle. Poured a medium and cloudy brownish / amber color with an off white head. Aromas of caramel, dark fruits, some woodiness, and alcohol. Tastes of caramel, wood, vanilla, bourbon, and citrus. Alcohol burn.

Dec 16, 2007 Poured a hazy brown color with some red, medium sized, off white head, that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of peanuts, caramel malts, light dark fruits, and a bit of alcohol. Taste of dried fruits, vanilla, caramel, resin, light citric bitterness, bourbon, and sharp alcohol in the finish.

Dec 12, 2007 Courtesy of Solan. Pours orange-ish copper with thin weak off white head. The aroma is mostly the barrel aged-ness and initially not much else. If I really concentrate I can just get some weak malt sweetness behind the wood and whiskey. The taste starts sweet and sticky then becomes woody and whiskey fortified. The barrel age aspect of the beer just takes too much of the flavor and hides almost all of the barleywine notes. I can just pick up faint dark fruit notes and faint caramel as just a murmur behind the whiskey. This wasn’t nearly as nice as the 2005.

Dec 9, 2007 Bottle Thanks to kramer17801 for this one. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Malty alcoholic caramel aroma with hints of dark fruit. Sweet malty dark fruit flavor with hints of alcohol and caramel. Sweet malty finish with a bitter aftertaste.
