Commercial Description:
This year’s version of our annual limited release introduced a new step in the process, barrel aging. After primary fermentation, this step, done in aged bourbon barrels, adds a unique element to the beer. To go along with this special process we used three types of malts, including peated malt, in the fermentation. This combination adds elements to the beer reminiscent of fine Scotch Whiskeys. East Kent Golding hops add to the Scottish influence and round out this exceptionally complex brew. Once again, the beer is finished with a bottle conditioning step and, like its predecessors, should continue to improve with age. It is extremely limited, extremely strong, and extremely original, because as we like to say around here: "It’s All About Extremes!

Bottled. hazy pale amber, almost no foam. Rather sweet aroma of caramel with touches of almond, spices and vanilla. Too mush flavours of bourbon which I don’t like. Vanilla, nuts and spunned sugar with notes of spices and grass. Nuts, vanilla, grass and wood in the long finish.

An amber appearance with little head. A spicy aroma mixed in with some oranges and alcohol. Some oranges, cloves, and caramel flavors are present. The beer had a somewhat syrupy mouthfeel. A warming and creamy finish. Not a bad one

Bottled, thanks jjpm74! Cloudy amber, no head. Strong caramel aroma. Sweet and very malty with full body. Evident notes of oak, vanilla and whiskey. There’s lots crystal malt, some pears, lots of barrel character.

Pours a hazy copper bronze with a nicely-lacing spotty white head. Aroma of sweet, earthy complex caramel malts with nice bready yeast. Body starts fairly full and caramely with lots of bready yeasty and dark caramel malts. Finishes slightly thinner and drier with some alcoholic warmth. This could use some age, but could be pretty good.
