Commercial Description:
For 2007 the brewers have selected a blend of 7 malts and 7 hops to create our unique annual limited release. When you decide to open this, you will notice a pitch black ale that pours with small brown head. The aroma is full of citrusy and floral notes, not only from the hops added from the boil but also the hops added after fermentation, the dry hop stage. Finally, one taste of this years beer and you will understand why it is so dark, roasted chocolately and malty flavors are abundant from the various dark malts that make up so much of the recipe. It is extremely limited, extremely strong and extremely original, because as we like to say around here "Its all about extremes!"

Dark brown pour with a thin brown head. Smells roasty, dark fruits, and cocoa. Nice. This has some potential. Flavor is roasted malts and molasses, along with a light amount of vinous fruits. Some faded hops too. Not bad. A little thin on the tail and some brash abv remnants. I’m sensing it was better a year ago...

750 bottle from a trade with growler. Thanks! Pours a dark brown black with a tan thin ring that fades to to an opaque black stillness. The oxidized notes rise off strong at first but they mellow over a few minutes from soy to chocolate and a rich oakiness. Soy flavors fade to chocolate and bourbon. Bitter and roasty with a slight sugarry sweetness. Thin smooth body finishes watery and dry. After the initial oxidation, this one significantly improved. Decent beer.

Bottle thanks to Holdenn. Dark brown, almost black wiht small almost non exisstent brown head. Aroma is bourbon, soy, vanilla, port, roast, dryer. Sweeter bourbon flavor with alc, vanilla, cherry, port, roasted malt. Medium to thin, watery. Oxidized and boozy, but not bad, doesn’t take away from it too much.

750 ml bottle courtesy of alldaydrinker tasted with one year of age. Pours black with no head and no sign of carbonation. The aroma was sweet molasses and toffee, dark fruits, vinous, and light roast. The flavor had only mild sweetness which was surprising based on the nose. Other flavors were slight roast, chocolate syrup, tart, prunes, and alcohol that grows as it warms. Thin for the style.

Bottle. Pours a brown liquid and finishes as a black body with a tan caramel head. Light chocolate sweetness, licorice, dark fruits, vinous qualities, and boozy maple chocolate. Good brew.

Not too complex, this light bodied anniversary beer did not deliver on a blend of seven hops or seven malts. Little carbonation and no head. It was corked and stored well. The smell and taste of dark chocolate, it was soya salty and not too sweet. Dark colour.
