Tastes sweet and boozy with a grassy, messy cloying finish. I’m losing faith in this series. Over the past few years, it seems like they are just taking whatever malts and hops are left over and laying around and throwing them in and seeing what happens. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 10, 2009 Pours a dark opaque brown with a few bubbles, but no real head to speak of. Aroma is a sweet sticky roasted brown sugar with a hint of fruity sour yeast. Flavor is extremely strong brown sugar and caramel with quite an alcohol bite. I don’t like that it is still because I think the carbonation could do a lot to lighten and balance the flavors. An extremely rich, almost creamy texture that finishes with a slightly sour raisin and plum. RCL (1496), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA

Rich aroma, of malt, booze, dark fruits, and wood. Big taste, similar to the nose, sweet, with a lot of alcohol. Lingering rich alcohol flavors. Very nice, will probably even be better after it’s aged a bit. carboy3 (1), warren, USA does not count | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 2, 2009 I picked up this bottle after a fellow hombrewer gave it to me in Warren RI-from Patriot Wine and Spirits. There was a blub next to it claiming "a big oatmeal cookie"
Corked. NICE! Big pop with smoke evolving from rim
A: Licorice, boozy. Plum and fig notes.
AP: Dark and murkey. Unfiltered? Split with three friends and last pour held up sediment--must be bottle conditioned--carbonation seems perfect!
Fl: Background molasses and raison--certainly tried to be an oatmeal cookie for sure! Hints of vanilla.
P: interesting..lots of levels here--will need some time t oage for sure! I like where it is heading though
OI: Needs time...lay it down. But really unique now and worth a try!
