From sept. 06 - Clear mahogany brown color. A pleasently sweet, caramelly malt aroma. Sweet fruity taste, plums, grapes, and raisens. A sweet candy taste also, or sugary yeast flavor. Not bad at all, a little different that what i’m use to, very unique IMO, but good!

12oz bottle acquired in trade with ppoitras (thanks!). Poured a medium reddish-brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, cocoa, some dark fruits, roast and a little nutty. Tastes of caramel, prunes, raisins (lots of prunes and raisins), and brown sugar. Definitely on the sweet side. Alcohol content hidden.

Bottle. Clear brown-red body. Raisin, wheaties, and port-like alcohol in the aroma. Dry, sweet flavor again with the port-like alcohol. Big cherry/plum presence. The mouthfeel is a bit average for the strength of flavor. Still a big satisfying bock.

Bottle @ Spuyten Duyvil, how do they get their hands on all this stuff? My first Newport beer poured into a wine glass. Color is brown, tanslucent but cannot see through the beer. The aroma is light malty mixed with alcohol. Sweet, yet light malty taste. Too one demonsional overall.

Very dark brown pour with a light brown fluffy head. Very thick and syrupy. Has some raisin and plum n otes in the taste. Also some smokiness. WAY strong taste of alcohol. OK but not great.

(Bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/westborough/julio’s-liquors/461.htm target=blank>Julio’s Liquors) Pours a dark honey brown with a soft biscuit head. Aroma is sourish and yeasty. Sloppy weepy lacing. Mouthfeel fairly smooth, kind of syrupy. Flavor is a sharp, syrupy brown sugar malt sweetness. Some alcohol burn. Has kind of a raw feel to it. Syrupy, sweet, lots of alcohol.

Dark brown body, barely a head at all. Strong, malty nose - very roasty. The alcohol is evident in the finish and is even astringent. Heavily-sweet - too sweet, IMHO. In general, it is unbalanced: too sweet, and too thick, with unnecessary bitterness and astringency. It was good to try, but its too much for me.
