Originally reviewed back on 6/26/06. Received 3.05 score. Added to my RB list to check "Rhode Island" as a beer state consumed. A disappointment. Looks boring, feels thin, and is so disjointed it seems the hops want absolutely nothing to do with the malts. There has to be some sort of symbiosis, not just head-butting. Blah.

First, I am amazed at the low rating. Pours an interesting deep hazy yellow with a strong pure white head. Very piney and sharp smell, glorious. Every sip is up-front, pungant and amazingly hoppy. Maybe a little too much at times, but hop heads will love. Very very dry and bitter, over the top bitter and finishes with that sharp bite. Almost a little sour and yeasty interesting. Complex and yummiferious!

Deep gold in color with a medium white head. Aroma of earthy and spicy hops and sweet caramel malt. Bitter and sweet at the same time, lingering bitter finish with a medium/full body.

Pours a hazy orange with a smallish head. Active carbonation tingles the tongue. The aroma is a bit musky in the hop area, but also has a tingling citrus quality. Lively bitterness backs up a solid malt body. Something keeps it from being really good though. I just can’t place it.

12oz bottle acquired in trade (I’m not sure from who - if you sent this to me, let me know!). Poured a medium amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of pine, light caramel and lightly fruity. Not too much of a hop presence in the aroma. Tastes of grapefruit and light caramel with a medium alcohol burn. I’d call this an average IPA but not an IPA.

People be hating on this beer. I enjoyed it. Hoppy sour and tasted like the wetlands in my backyard, but in a good way. Poured hazy yellow, nice white head.

This beer is uniquely aweful. First off, they put the stats on the beer. OG 1.077, ABV 8.6%. This means the beer had to ferment down to 1.011, which is very thin for such a large beer. Second, 56 IBUs...in a DIPA?!?! A DIPA should be at 90+. The beer makes up for the lack of bitterness with the sourness from a bacterial infection. The beer is very hazy, cloudy orange with a gigantic head, likely from the infection. I’m not spending any more time with this beer. The whole 6-pack were dumpers.
