Poured a deeper reddish brown color with a large sized off white head. First thing that came to my mind when I smelled it was root beer. Other aromas of caramel, brown sugar roast, and grapes. Tastes of the same root beer, caramel, light chocolate, and nuts. Thinner body. Alcohol hidden. kevd193213 (498), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 26, 2006 Similar in color to its daddy, the Hurricane Ale, rust brown color. Taste of alcohol present, along with malt and caramel. spkldhenlvr24 (461), Newburgh/Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 28, 2006 Pours a deep brownish amber body with a small off white head. Funky caramel aroma. Warm medium mouthfeel. Sweet caramel taste with a slight alcohol burn. Too thin for an ASA. I dont think deserves this sorta rating, but its a decent beer. blankboy (3207), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 27, 2006 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry courtesy of hopdog. Pours a hazy orange-brown with an average size somewhat-lasting beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel malt, brown sugar, a touch of chocolate and alcohol. Flavour starts sweet and watery with caramel malt, nuts and mild chocolate and has a hoppy, roasty alcoholic finish. Light to medium bodied. This was pretty enjoyable and if it was more flavourful and had more body to it then it would be a really good beer. Definitely better then it’s score of 2.75. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 27, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, his bottle, via trade with hopdog. Poured deep clear mahogany with a large lasting tightly foamy beige head. Aroma is a surprising combination of candyish caramel roast malt and almost flemish sour wine & cider tartness - very yeasty, mildly fruity, the alcohol is quite apparent in the nose on warming, begins to take on an applejack character. Taste is of slightly burnt candy apple, alcohol and a hint of generic chocolate and light floral hops emerging with a hint of metal and quite a bit of malt and alcohol in its average-length, slightly sweet finish. Has an average mouthfeel, a little flat, lightly syrupy - I liked this wellenough, but I have a hard time figuring just what it wants me to think it really is. pineypower (1096), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA

The aroma is an intense caramel aroma. The taste is very nice with strong notes of caramel, chocolate and some fruit, with a slight finish of alcohol. I really liked this beer and have no idea why its not rated higher..... BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 2, 2005 [bottle] Pours a clear reddish-brown color. Head started out huge and the quickly diminished. Aroma is serious alcohol and malts. Taste is quite sweet at first, then mellows out to caramel malts. I kind of wish this had more ’body’ to it. argo0 (6907), Washington DC, USA
