| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 28, 2006 Pours a clear dark copper mahogany with a thin off-white head. Toasty sweet dark malty aroma has a touch of burnt character. Body starts with lots of sweet sticky dark caramel malt revealing a hint of bitter roasted malt and some bready cookie dough lager yeast flavor before a warming finish. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 27, 2006 Poured a clear mahogony color with a thin beige head. Sweet and fruity aroma. Had raisins, toffee, sugar, plums, candy, touch of smoke and light alcohol. Flavor of caramel and some fruit. Not as complex as the aroma. Warming sensation. Finish is mostly dry with a short mild bitterness. pineypower (1102), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 19, 2006 Tired this one now a few times and still come up with the same verdict. Pours out a nice dark brown color with a good sized head. Aroma is of fruit and some sweet caramel. Taste has way too much going on with no real direction. Notes of apple, caramel, chocolate and some bitter flavors on the finish. I wanted to like this beer, it was just all over the place with direction, granted it is not a favorite style of mine, but it needed something. JPDIPSO (4925), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 11, 2006 Bottle ala SecretSanta. Clear dark copper color with a taller dry bone colored head. From the first sniff something seems amiss. Sour cherries and granny-smith apples mingle with sweet caramel and toasted wheat bread. Acetaldehyde seem to be in place. Sweetness sweeps through the mouth and the second before the swallow, alcohol rushes through the nose. The chocolate malts seem to present the most flavors, that together with the alcohol seem nearly burnt. The edginess of this one fades as it sets in the glass. This one seems to need some time to breath and be free of the bottle before being sampled. The volatiles are wicked and need time to be ushered out of the pour. A good 7 minute pour does wonder for this one. Dark fruit stewed in kirchwasser seems to fit the bill. Still a touch too wild, but a little tweak and this would be great. argo0 (6948), Washington DC, USA
