Poured coppery-amber with a swirly dusting of off-white head and a loose ring. The aroma was chock full of spices (pepper and clove primarily) with cherry sweetness and tartness.. pears and apples too. The flavor had apple and cherry skin tartness with white pepper and cloves.. fruity sweetness built up as it warmed, becoming cloying at the back-end. Medium-bodied.. bit slick at the front, tangy tartness across the middle, and cloying sweetness at the back.. didn’t flow very well. Decent brew. scraff (1946), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 26, 2007 Hazed dark copper, creamy lightly tanned head. Nose held soft notes of red licorice, sugared plum, candy apple, and hints of cherry yeastiness. Sweet sugary dark fruit flavors and cherry licorice dominate from start to finish. Hops pretty much take a backseat for the ride as they’re hardly noted. Medium bodied and slick, soft carbonation, sweet fruity finish. It’s ok I guess for a sweet sipper... Smells of strawberries, cherries and some doughy elements. Taste is spicy and fruity with some pilsner hints on the finish. Decent for what it is. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA

Sweet malty flavors, blended with the flavors of tart apple, yeast and cherry. Mellow finish, slightly sweet. A nice surprise. Hippystomper (35), Narragansett, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 3, 2007 Smells kind of sour and funky, but in a good way. The flavor is more mild than other belgian styles that I’ve had but is pretty great. Wicked drinkable for the high alcohol content. Definately be getting this one again. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 2, 2007 Poured into a brandy snifter. Deep translucent amber colour with a white head that fades quick. Nice lacing all the way down. Smells of yeast and sour apple with the slightest hint of clove coming through. Tastes of sweet malt, dark fruit, and yeastyness. The booze is masked very well for an 8.1%er. Very easy drinking. Aftertatse sticks around for awhile due to the medium-heavy body. Good stuff. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
