Commercial Description:
Henry is an 7.6% abv Munich Dark Ale. With over 75% of the malted barley in this beer being of the Munich Malt variety, the body and flavor of this beer are unmistakable. The full bodied and malty sweet backbone is married to plentiful amounts of roasted malt to give this pitch black ale balance.A variety of German hops are used to add further balance to this unique version of the style.

bottle from alldaydrinker... pours a dark nutty brown color topped by a large frothy light tan head. lots of drippy lacing is left behind. the aroma is a rather muted mix of malt, bread yeast, sour/vinegary and mown grass sitting in a bag in the garage waiting to be taken out to the garbage. the flavor is unmistakably yeasty bread, sour before it is proofed and baked... earthy, malty, weird, sour/vinegar and a bit ashy on the finish. grainy nutty aftertaste. medium body with lots of creamy soft carbonation. something is definitely wrong with this...

12 oz bottle. Dark brown, just allowing some light, with a tannish head. Nose is coffee, plums, wood and a touch of smoke. Medium body with a sudsy tingle. Taste is prune juice, toffee and raisin. Finishes with an earthy bitterness. Has a nice, but brief, sweetness.

Aroma - Some plum, dates, chocolate, and a little yeasty bread

Appearance - Dark brown with ruby highlights, faintly hazy, large light brown head that leaves decent lace.

Flavor - Uh-oh, here’s where the trouble starts. Some sweet caramel starts off, but then an unexpected sourness takes over. Is this intended? I can’t imagine that it is. A very tart character soon gives way to a long lasting , but somewhat unpleasant citrus peel bitterness

Palate - Medium body, light carbonation, slightly watery, dry palate, thanks to the sour character and the big hop bitterness

Overall - If this isn’t infected, then it certainly is a very unusual concoction. In any case, just about unpalatable

Bottle pours very dark brown with a thin head. Aroma has a slight caramel sweetness to it and a sour smell as well. Uh oh, this one might be passed its prime. Taste has some malt sweetness, but is overpowered by a sour taste. I enjoy a good sour beer, but this just tastes awful. I had to pour it down the drain.

Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a thin, tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty caramel malt and some lightly fruity tart notes. Body starts fizzy and effervescent with a touch of sweetness giving way to more of a drier tart earthy finish. The tartness seems unintended, which leads me to believe this would’ve probably been better fresher.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown body with an off tan head. Aroma/flavor is chocolate sweet malt and is sweet the whole way through. A little warming in the flavor but the whole thing just tastes off. eh.

Pours brown with a thin pinkish head. Smells of chocolate, sweet malt. Tastes earthy with a sweet finish. This is an odd beer and I’m not sure what it’s trying to be.

(Bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/w target=blank>Julio’s Liquors) Pours dark brown with some amberish hihglights. One finger of rather sturdy tan head. Aroma is a little tough to pinpoint but seems like brown sugar with some licorice. Mouthfeel medium-full. Nice sturdy sheets of lacing. Flavor is kind of brown sugar and licorice and then as it warms some chocolate and coffee. Kind of has an odd light sourishness to it but not a this-may-be-infected sourishness. This is a little bit of a mess overall, kind of a hodgepodge.
