Darkish amber, smallish lasting head. Really nice caramel-vanilla nose with some light orangey hops in the background. Not nearly as good in the flavor department, though it’s reasonably well-made. Slightly smoky, hints of hops towards the end, a bit of bitter chocolate, caramel -- but too thin and harsh at the finish. Drinkable, but I’ll pass on another. BennyTicklez (621), USA

Not too much flavor, but somehow the aftertaste was strong. It was served to me a little on the warm side, so that may be why this beer was not impressive to me. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 29, 2004 2004 Draught @ Sunset Grill. Fairly clear light orange with some ambers and yellows. Small off-white head, mostly disippating. Aroma has a touch of light hops and a bit of toasty malt, nothing terribly aromatic. Flaor opens up dry, papery and lightly astringent, toasted malt not balanced with any sweet flavors dries the palate out too much and the light papery hops do not seem to add much. Decent bitter flavor on the finish and as it warms, some lightly sweet malt flavors try to peek through, but overall, it is just a wet textured, medium bodied amber, with very little to get excited about. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 6, 2004 Bottle: Yeah, its color is pretty much amber. A bit of an off white head, but it went away quickly. No lacing down the glass at all. The nose is mainly of sweet malts. The taste is a slightly less than medium bodied malt sweetness. Not much else. Rates on OK, but definitely nothing special. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
