Commercial Description:
Hurricane Amber Ale is a full flavored beer which clearly has more taste than other domestic and imported light beers while at the same time does not overpower the drinker with heavy body or excessive bitterness.

Growler from brewery. Slightly sweet apple malt aroma. Bright amber color with moderate head. Nice malt/Horlicks flavor. On the light side. A very nice amber ale.

On tap. Mildly hazy amber with a white head. Somewhat floral aroma, very mild spice. Caramel flavors, light floral hop. OK.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy bright copper with a lacy, off-white head. Fruit, nuts and some flowery hops in the nose. Light body with medium carbonation. The taste has some more fruit an a touch of caramel. Just a little grainy on the otherwise refreshing finish. Should be a pretty decent session beer.

Jan. 3, 2007; 12 oz. bottle. Cloudy, dark amber; quickly-dissipating head. Satisfying aroma of sweet malt spills over into the flavor for a split-second until it’s completely overtaken by the too-sour apricot bitterness dominating the long & somewhat-watery finish. Interesting brew (at least it’s not bland!), but not something I’d seek out.

Dark red-brown color. Strong taste, some fruit present. Nice palate. Pretty decent brew, good in winter.

This beer is an okay brew, but really nothing special. It is too bad they don’t give it some real good flavor to make it a little more appealing.

12oz bottle. Poured a deep amber and slightly hazy amber color with a larger sized off white head. Aromas of toasted malts, light caramel, and light citrus. Watery tastes of the same. All around thin.

Courtesy of Afterexile. I really liked this one. It didn’t have the hue I associate with amber beers and seemed more golden white. But it had a nice balanced crispy flavor without that bitter malt I associate with other amber beers. The hops are subdued but they aren’t watered down. Nothing strikes me as exuberent but for a light beer this one is tasty and well carbonated.
