Sweet fruity aroma with nice malt and acidic hops. Notes of caramel and gum. Malty caramel flavor. Light hops present as well. Not a terrible amber. 5000 (2634), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA

Aroma of sweet dark toasted caramel malt with a touch of hops. Body starts with a mild buttery sweetness with some toasty caramel maltiness. An ok amber apart from the diacetyl. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Clear red amber ale having a small white head. Soft carbonation. Fruity/toffee/sweet malt aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts dry with toffee/toffee/toasty malt flavors. Finishes dry and clean with light hop bitterness fade. This is a very good drinkable dry amber ale. Thanks Thaichile! pineypower (1107), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 14, 2006 Had on tap at the brewery and now from the bottle, so I’ll split the difference and rate both. Pours out a nice amber color with a small white head. Aroma is of sweet malts with slight hop. Taste is not as bad as the ratings say. Slight hop with some sweet malt I liked the beer and would definitely like it in the can in the summer out on the boat, and thats what its made for, for that I give it a thumbs up. | 1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 1/20 | Jan 27, 2006 Newport Storm Hurricane Amber pours to a bright amber color with a good bit of carbonation, and a white head that fades. Really not a whole lot going on in the nose, slight bit of grassy hop aromatics, a hint of malt. The palate is like the nose, very timid, and tame. The body is thin, watery, anything but extreme. A touch of estery fruit, slightly grainy on the tongue, and that is about it. It has potential, if only the flavor was cranked up 1000 times. What a boring beer. This beer finishes as timid and bland as it started, with a slight bitter hop finish that quickly fades. Very disappointing, bland beer. JFGrind (1354), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 25, 2006 There’s a lot of name’s involved with this beer; Coastal EXTREME(!) is the brewery, Newport Storm is the brand and Hurricane Amber Ale is the beer. Now that’s cleared up let’s focus on the Amber Ale. It delivers what I beleive an amber ale should be, hops are blended with the malts. Nothing EXTREME(!) going on here with this amber ale, and that’s the way an amber should be.
