| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 15, 2007 Bottled. Poured a deep, coppery brown with a short off-white head. The aroma picked up deep, rich caramelization with darker fruits and chocolate.. very intriguing and enjoyable. The flavor had dark fruits and caramel again at the core with sharper alcohol notes and a solid dose of herbal bitterness.. sweet, toasty finish showed some stale oxidation notes. Light-medium bodied and too sharp at times. Not bad at all. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 3, 2005 2005 bottle at Julio’s Spring Beer Fest, 4/02/05. Cherry red mixes with light amber-brown for the body, which is clear, with a small, but somewhat well-retained beige-yellow head. Aroma of pine hops, sweet coffee and cream. A touch of caramel and some light fruitiness. Flavor is well-balanced, with some honey-cream, dry roast and well-extracted malts balancing against an easygoing hops bitterness, that is not too drying. A bit astringent as it warms, however, with a peppery, disruptive carbonation. Medium body, with no wateriness. CapFlu (3491), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
