Copper in color with a small off-white head. Aroma of nuts, sweet caramel malt and roasted malt. Sweet malt starts and leads into a roasted dry finish.

Pours with a one-finger light tan head that fades quickly leaving traces of lace. Amber color. Light carbonation and heavy bodied. Nose is burnt hot chocolate. Starts and finishes with a roasted chocolate/coffee flavor. $1.45 for a 12 oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

The look I love: dark, almost black body under a nice tan head. Aroma was lightly chocolate, roasted grain, some hops, some coffee. Not very intense. The mouthfeel was light bodied for a porter. A little too much carbonation for my tastes and too watery. The flavor was subtle and pleasant but not robust as a poter should be. Same notes of chocolate and coffee and light hops.

Very dark brown, but see through, little head. Aroma had notes of chocolate and some roastiness. Chocolate and roast flavors dominate, emphasis on the roast. Balanced overall, with some nice depth of flavor, without getting cloying or astringent. This is well made, but I just couldn’t get into it for some reason. I think I’m losing my palate for porters.

Roasty smell over a blackish (with a wee bit of ruby showing through if you look carefully) color. Malty and hoppy with a big chalky, roasty flavor.

a really nice porter. dark brown pour with a tan head. smells like coffee and chocolate, a nice sweet and malty beer. not bad in the least, certainly something to drink again as well as recommend to anyone who favors the style.
