Foamy white head, with good retention. Chocolate aroma. Reddish nutty
chocolate aroma. Very malty--like I like it. Nut and chocolate flavors. Dry
finish with strong hop presence. The hops leave a nice lingering aftertaste.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 14, 2005 This is a fine porter. Thanks Mike C. Dark Brown color somewhere between opaque and translucent small head. Flavor/aroma is carmel, sweet like corn syrup, and somewhat chocolatey, which to me is the perfect blend of a porter. I think they used British Hops to maybe Fuggles or East Kent. Well made and one that I hope will pass this way again soon. Very reminsent of Fuller’s Porter to me. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 20, 2001 Deep brown to black color, minimal head but a decent amount of lace. The black patent malts quite pronoucned in the nose, roasted corn come to mind. Front is sweet, middle thick, creamy, rich and choclatety, reminds me ’Choc-o-la Cola’ from my childhood. Finish is ’quite hoppy’, and a is dry, but extremely pleasing to me. As porters and stouts are still my favorite, I have a new top ten porter to add to my master list that now totals 4025 beers. My thanks to Venom. argo0 (6964), Washington DC, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 26, 2002 Healthy tan head atop a clear near-black body. Aroma is scrumptious chocolate, slightly roasty. Flavor is much the same, though the roastiness is more pronounced, and there’s also some hop bitterness in the swallow. Fairly rich and really tasty. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 7, 2001 Roasted aroma and a nice appearance. More roastedness follows with a nice balance between roasted and chocolate and some crystal sweetness. Slightly dry with a good hop balance. Dry and earthy. Nicely malted brew. aracauna (2391), Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 3, 2002 Pours a deep, clear cherry brown. The head forms but lacks staying power, quickly fading to renegade bubbles on the edge of the glass with faint weather map storm clouds wisping across the surface. A rich chocolate and toast aroma wafts up from the beer at pouring. Quite appetizing. The flavor doesn’t dissipoint (especially for a porter as light as this one). The chocolate, dominate in the aroma, falls out a bit to become subordinate to the roasty toasty malt. Neither soft and chewy, nor harsh and hard, it’s rather crisp with a clean firmness making it like a thin, stiff piece of leather (metaphorically speaking). A very faint smokiness softens the flavor without overwhelming it. ericnixon (719), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA
