Bottle courtesy of pintbypint. Has a medium amber body with a yellowish head. The aroma is woody with vanill and cherries. The taste is oak and milk chocolate. There is also some peas and peanuts. This is surprisingly dry for the style. Fairly nice.

750 ml bottle of the 2004 version. Copper coloured beer with a thin off-white head. Sweet malty aroma, caramel, maple, butterscotch (not diacetyl), brown sugar with nice bread and toasty elements as well. Sweet rum and raisin character character adds even more malty complexity. Flavour is quite sweet with elements of caramel and toffee. Slightly vineous with notes of dark rum. Toasty warming finish with a light sourness that keeps the sweetness in check. Excellent brew.

A very good beer indeed. Nice flavour - Deep colour and well-balanced. Pours with an off-white herad. For my forth beer of the night - the most interesting.

Reddish-brown with a thin white head. Alcohol and malt scent. Alcohol is pretty obvious in the taste. Dry. Not as good as I’d hoped, but still a fine beer. 2003 version.

Drinking the 2003 edition of this fine beer. Strong alcohol auroma and beautiful color. Has a fruity tast to it with a VERY dry aftertaste. Smooth and nice. Thaks PJ for making number 600 a good one.

750ml green champagne bottle, capped. 2004 edition. Orange amber appearance. Has a small creamy, tight whitish head. Trace noble hop aroma with dark malt and caramel. Sweetness hides behind some strong dark malt. Some fruitiness. Lingering bittering hops and a good deal of malt in the finish. Felt the alcohol profile was well restrained. A bit rugged, but enjoyable.

On tap @ Volo. Dark amber colour. Thin mouthfeel and indistinct nose. Flavour started with some sweet caramel and then got somewhat hoppy which surprised me. A little dissapointing, I’ll have to buy a bottle and rerate.

2005 draught. Wow, my numbers and comments I wrote down last night were near identical to my notes from 2004. So not much has chaged, still flavourful but thin. 2004 bottle. Amber colour, medium white head. Aroma was a little disappointing in that there wasn’t much there - some caramel like sweetness in what was present. And this beer looked very thin, judging by appearance alone. Taste was a little different though - there was a full bodied sweet malty brew disguised by a very thin mouthfeel - interesting! I didn’t rate past years despite trying them (a little before I got into this) but this is better than the last few years in my mind at least. Alcohol not present at all. A nice boxing day brew!
