Kept a nice smooth compact white head composed of fine bubbles, leaves ok lace. Malt aroma, sweet grains, light citrus hops. Fruity tasting with orange notes, caramel and light roasted malt. Light hop bittering in the finish. Glad to see this available in Windsor again. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 16, 2005 Now that the Moosehead-run NF Brewey has Deleted Olde Jack ale and Reconfigured their Pale ale as a Conner’s clone I thought I’d give Griststone a whirl.
Pours a red-copper with a decent cap, good lacing. light carbonation. Musty sweet malt aroma with citrus hop notes. Mouth feel is slick with the sweet biscuit malts with sour yeast and lime hops dominating...a bit of smokey.. burnt treacle then a rather short finish that becomes citrusy and bitter.
A good sturdy micro ale with its own character

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2005 Appearance- Pours a dark coppery red body with a two inch thick foamy and beige head. Heavy lacing present. 1/4 inch head remians even after 10 minutes plus.
Aroma- Candy maly, molasses, bread, and of course hops. Nice balance of all aromas.
Taste- Immediate bitterness, followed by a malty and sour taste. Bready, woody, aged. Nice.
Palate- Slightly watery mouthfeel, nice bite in the throat and in mouth.
Overall- Well balanced. Great malt/hop balance with bitterness and sweetness coming together. My second impressive beer from Niagara. Beer Snob (382), Ontario, Canada

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 26, 2005 Bottled. Nice brown body with a solid frothy off white head. Definitely had a slick to the tongue mouthfeel and a red dark berry flavour that must come with the fact that it comes out of wine territory. Citric and acidic finish is a bit much and not enough maltyness considering it’s and English strong... but it is one of the better ones out of Ontario for certain. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 19, 2004 Had a pint of this at the Bow & Arrow in Toronto last night. It had been years since I’d last had it, and this was one of those rare cases where an Ontario micro that I drank in my younger days is actually better than I remember in being back then. Very nice orange-amber colour with a small off-white head. Sweet malt & cherry aroma with a hint of oily hops. Refereshing body. Flavour starts sweet, is fruity in the middle, and slides into a dry, citric hop finish. A very good & underrated session ale.
