The scents include roasted barley with a touch of chocolate. First taste was very roastey with the roasted malts at the front.the finish is smooth with lingering malt and slight choco flavour. The palate tapers off its roasted flavour with a very small amount of bitterness. Delicious and one of my favourites! tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 13, 2004 Bottle. Poured light brown head, quickly dissipated. Aroma is sweet - caramel malt, nutty. Deep dark brown appearance. Taste is all malt at first, sweet caramel at the end. Not much of a long finish, hops barely noticeable. Could not tell this was "strong" at all, which was a good thing in this case. I really liked this one; I see some think it used to be better - I’m sorry I missed it then, but am happy with it in its present form. Nice surprise. MrManning (1652), London, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 5, 2005 Mahogony body, initial 1 inch head, which eases off into a thin and delicate spiderweb of lace resting atop the body. Aromas are splendid. Roasted malt, campfire cooked nuts, and sweet brown sugar. Taste is bitterroasted nuts, smokey malts, and molasses. Slight coffee essence as well. Watery, but smooth all the way from start to finish. Mild bitter bite on entire palate.
Once again, Niagara Falls Brewing Company hits the mark. Balance of all aromas and flavours coming together in unison. I can already tell that Olde Jack, will one day be one of my olde favourites. Well done! pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 12, 2004 Updated: Sep 1, 2004Poured a deep chestnut color with ruby highlights and a 1finger sand colored, frothy head which reduced to 1CM cap that rode out the drink. Aromas of subdued nuts and caramel. Mouthfeel is meduim bodied with accets on carmelized malts which give a syrupy smei-sweet impression because of the oily texture (very nice) while the hops take a back seat...finish is surprisingly clean and you can taste the hops afterward...another nice mellow brew from NFB presario (2996), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 5, 2003 Malt, caramel, hint of butterscotch and faint chocolate aromas. Ruby, pours a large(short lived) head, nice lace as well. Smoke, almonds, raisins and malt flavours. Well balanced, smooth, a good example of the style. As Oakes suggested, I will cellar a few, to see how it improves.
