| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 30, 2009 this is my first from these guys, a 2007. it was a gusher after i took the top off. you can really smell the alcohol in it along with a whole range of smells like, oarnge, malt, grape and something else that i cant identify. the taste wasnt overpowering, and it was almost medium bodied. it is a little sweet and has a warming effect. the head fell rather quickly, i wasnt expecting that, has little lacing and the body is a dark ruby red. it may be a little to carbonated though. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 18, 2009 A nose of chocolate and yeast. Taste is salty, buttery, complex and a bit peppery. The alcohol is present in the finish. After a bit of aging the curacau-flavour becomes more subtle and allows a solid belgian strong to emerge. Cheap and very drinkable. Will buy again! Flavor is nice slightly roasty caramel, dark fruits, and a bit of candi sugar. Very good. BeerChaser0078 (322), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 5, 2009 75cl bottle. Pours a lovely copper with a tan head which disappears fairly quickly. Rather light, slightly smoky nose which gives little indication of the strong flavours of toffee, cherry, raisins and a hint of woodiness. The abv is not overly noticeable. Similar to some of the good christmas ales while being a little bit more complex. I can imagine this beer would only improve with age. Overall a pretty good beer. j12601 (1215), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA

Bottle of the Limited Edition 2008 offering, at BCTC. Pours a hazy brown with a thin beige to tan head. Candy, plum, and prunes on the nose. More plum and dark fruit in the body. A little sweet for me, but still fairly solid.
