Dark brown cloudy body with good carbonation and a thin off-white frothy head. Complex malty/hoppy aroma with herbal, spicy and yeasty notes. Perfectly balanced taste that carries yeasty, spicy and fruity hints. Texture is soft/oily and alcohol is well hidden. Ends with a good warming finish. Nice! after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jun 12, 2007 750. Pours deep grainy, opaque ebony with a thicky, goopy, moussy tan head. Enormous dark fruit nose hits you at arm’s length, even from a fairly cool beer. Dust and hay as you reel in the glass. Big thick body but totally free of stickiness or oiliness. Nice soft abundant carb. Heavy roast fruit flavors, wet leaves, leather, tobacco--it’s a super rich mid palate. Nice sharp herbal hop sting to the finish; beautiful contrasting element. dwh50 (46), Clay, New York, USA

Very dark brown with good lasting head. Malt and carmel with smooth finish. I do not know if it is available in Central New York, but you can be sure I’ll look for it. Highly recommended, possibly the best beer I’ve had all year. Aroma is dried fruit forward, followed by sweet malt and an excellent floral hop boquet. Beer is a vary dark brown with a strong amber undertone, slightly hazy, with a good off-white head that leaves excellent belgian lace on the glass. Flavor is malt forward, lots of carmel, tons of dried dark fruit and low hoppiness. Flavors blend together excellently with this complexity, no clashing here. Body is moderate, as well as the carbonation and feel; great creamy finish. Overall, a very complex beer that should wow anyone. It’s hard to put this much into one bottle and not find something standing out too much to object to. Well made. Grovlam (3809), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 21, 2007 Bottle. Huge fizzy beige head that lasted for a very long time. Excellent display of lacework. Somewhat clear and sparkling body with a mahogany color. Huge spicy and fruity notes. Cinnamon, caramel, mix of dark fruit, pepper like notes, almost soy sauce like, yeast. I just have that Christmas feel to it. Full bodied with an average carbonation and hint of alcoholic texture. Flavor was moderated sweet with light notes of bitterness. Finish was spicy sweet and somewhat liquorish lingering. Excellent Christmas beer. Sammy (3976), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Lace, some yeast, sugar. This is a controlled orange taste and spice beverage, worthy of the sip. Yes there could be thyme. 2006. smartlung (154), Valrico, Florida, USA
