Seriously annoying! So what about the beer that didn’t run away? Dark reddish brown colour with huge, but rather brief, beige head, leaving lots of lacing. Huge, fruity nose with dark fruit, orange, banana and a hint of ginger. Rather vinous. Malty, fruity, vinous taste with notes of chocolate, orange, yeast and herbs (spiced with thyme and curacao). Malty sweetness. Full body, smooth mouthfeel. Fiery and warming. Moderate hops, overshadowed by dark fruit, malt and herbs. Very nice beer (but beware when you open the bottle). voota (761), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 3, 2007 Pours dark clear brown with a crystalline tan head. Large chunks of lace are left on the side of the glass as the head settles. Aroma of ripe plum, toffee, heavy rum and spicy hops. The body shows alcohol and sweetness very strongly. Flavours of toffee, salt, rum, prunes and spicy hops. Warming finish. Perhaps a little too sweet and cloying overall, but enjoyable nonetheless. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Apr 29, 2007 750ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark brown with amber highlights and a large long lasting light tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of raisins, plums, caramel, thyme, cherries, and corriander. Taste is slightly sweet and spicy with notes of raisins, plums, caramel, cherries, and spices with a mild hop bitterness. Full mouthfeel with good carbonation. Another wonderfull beer from d’Achouffe. iep (229), Amsterdam, Netherlands

Spicy sweet aroma, with blackcurrant, cherry, plum, curacao, cinnamon, thyme, raisins, vanilla, sugar & alcohol. Taste was full & rounded, again very spicy and sweet - caramel, cherry, honey, cinnamon, dark sugar, molasses, alcohol and much more. A huge malt-profile. Slight hoppiness in the finish but the emphasis is definitely on the malt. Mouthfeel was quite thick, not much carbonation. Very nice, indeed. slang (396), Columbia, South Carolina, USA
