The aroma is full of old fruit like prunes, raisins and other dry fruit. With the bit of malt and the cinammon/nutmeg spiciness, it comes across like a funky old pie. The flavot is much like the aroma with the malt, fruit and spice melding into an interesting drink. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA

Cherries and dark fruits, lightly caramel. Citrus appeared mainly in the mostly dry finish along with other peppery spices. Was smoother and thicker on tap than in the bottle. Alcohol was not tasted in either version. Crit (2409), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 11, 2006 Poured a murky orange brown color with a very fluffy head that laced great and lasted for the duration of the drink. The aroma was spicey with dark fruits (raisins, figs, plums), bananas. Flavor was pretty complex, spices most prominent, dark fruits, candy sugar, the whole nine yards typical of the style. The alcohol was definitely strong and somewhat astringent, as this could have used some aging. Mouthfeel was moderately bodied and somewhat creamy for a Belgian. Enjoyable. Aroma of spices with some sweet malt and typical Belgian yeast. Taste is quite sweet with some dominating spices and a yeasty spicy finish. I didn’t think the Chouffe yeast came out as much as it did in their other beers. Body was above average with great carbonation and no alcohol was discernable. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA
