Complex aroma of sweet caramel, brown sugar, dry fruit, spices (coriander, timothy etc), yeast and a tiny but warming hint of alcohol. Possible to just there and sniff at the glass for eternity! Flavor is no disappointment, harmonic, warming, fruity, sweet, caramel, malt, sugar, raisins and spices. Full body and extremely delicious, alcohol is well hidden but very warming. Just love it. rederic (1815), montréal, Quebec, Canada

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 10, 2005 Bottle. Large beige head. Dark amber body. Malty nose. taste is alot of sugar and alcohol, sweet, candi sugar, metal, tannins, with a huge tannic bitterness on the back end. Hints of orange, black pepper, and anise. I really don’t know what else to say about this one. It is alittle too sweet and very complex. illinismitty (1800), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Aroma of dried thyme and Belgian esters. Medium bodied with a fine Belgian effervescence. Flavor of dark wheat malt, spice, candi sugar, and yeast. Detectable alcohol on the finish, but not overbearing. Good beer. Palidor19 (1791), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 1, 2007 This is a real pleasure to drink. the taste of dark fruits, caramel and a few spices make this a great addition to me ratings list. its got a cola feel to it and the taste doesn’t have the real alcohol punch that a Belgian Strong ale should have. pilsnerrogge (1790), Finspång, Sweden

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 10, 2007 750 bottle from 2005, and more delicious than ever. I’m a big fan of Brasserie Chouffe beers, but the winter seasonal may be the best. Brownish red with major froth, this one is very complex with candied malts leading the way for a rich bouquet of spice, yeast, and mild fruits. A superb beer that I always enjoy.
