Jan 23, 2005 Updated: Jan 12, 20081/12/08: Re-rate. Draught at Blue Nile, Minneapolis. Virtually identical rating as the one I did 3 years ago. Aroma was docked 1 point. Dusty and yeasty aroma. Huge! tan head. Had to wait to drink it. Dark, murky body. Decent lace. Very sweet and very good. Not too strong. Distinctive flavoring. Not too heavy. I prefer this slightly to the Bell’s Old Coast b-wine I had just before it. That’s saying something. A very nice brew. 1/23/05: A very rich, sweet and malty nose. Lots of visible particalia. Jul 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark amber with a big beige head. Dark fruits, spices, candy and malts in the aroma. Flavour is pretty complex with many spicy notes. Creamy mouthfeel. A really good beer indeed.

Dec 3, 2005 dark brown pour - tan head. smells malty, sweet, caramel, fruity, etc. taste is identical, yet it is very light and pretty easy to drink despite the 10%. finish is nice and smooth , very easy drinking beer. something id like to age and see how it turns out in a few years.

Mar 29, 2009 2007 bottle .. lots of dark fruits and spices w/ some molasses .. aged nicely .. RIP bernie mac ... pours with a big ass tan head .. ’i am not a dog you fat bastard’ .. tons of xmas spice! .. very drinkable.. a very well made beer but i found the whole bottle by myself too much!!

Dec 4, 2004 Draft @ State Line Liquors. Medium sized tan head, fair retention and some stringy lace. Lightly hazy brown/orange hued ale. Fruity nose, light bananna esters, yeasty, bready, spicey. Medium body, lightly creamy mouthfeel. Lovely malty spicey flavors, pleasent fruitiness, hints of plums, some raisins, spices are just right. Finish is medium dry, fruity. A10%er? No way!

Jan 9, 2006 Big 750 cc bottle. Really tasty. Poured red brown and hazy, with a huge tan head that lasted forever. Lots of fruit aroma with a hint of hops. Very smooth. Alcohol very forward. Full bottle would bomb you. Very expensive in my town, about the same as a bottle of quality wine. Not cost effective, but fun to try once. This is really good. Mine was the 2005 limited edition.

Apr 11, 2006 Dark brown coloured, with a large off white head. NIce yeasty aroma, with some fruity and malty touches (nutty and raisins), light roasted and some caramel. Full body, creamy texture. Finish is light bitter, sweet again with some caramel, and some alcoholic hints.. A great beer.
