Bottle at a beer geek event at The Bruery in OC. A "n’ice" Belgian Strong Ale but not a standout. Cloudy copper color with a medium off-white head. Aroma of candi sugar, yeast, dark fruits, and spice. Flavor is lots of spices, candi sugar, raisin, date, and other dark fruits. Nice medium-full palate with some alcohol.

Bottle of the Limited Edition 2008 offering, at BCTC. Pours a hazy brown with a thin beige to tan head. Candy, plum, and prunes on the nose. More plum and dark fruit in the body. A little sweet for me, but still fairly solid.

[CMO-tasting] Very smooth compared to the high percentage. Amounts of spice, brown ale notes, fruits and a wish for more of this bottle.

750 ml corked and caged [2003 vintage, fresh]: pours a deep, thick, murky cedar brown/red. . .Thick, light brown head that settles into snowy patches and floats a spicy berry aroma to my nose. Oaky flavours with dry leaves, coriander, strong Chouffe yeast, and some damp clay. There are some complex Belgian malt flavours up front, but the dry finish didn't sit too well with me. Still a very solid seasonal that I will enjoy again I am sure.

Really n’ice la Chouffe!. Dark red colour, nice aroma with a fruity smell. Interesting and pleasant malty taste with a fruity taste. Nice aftertaste with good palate. A very fine nutty aftertaste, not very heavy like you would expect from a 10%’ er. Drank it from the bottle. One to have again.

Light brown color with a huge off-white head that lasts and lasts. Excellent lacing throughout. Hazy body with small floaties. Moderately malty aroma with light bread notes along with apple and allspice notes. Moderately sweet flavor from start to finish with more hints of apple and spice. Full bodied with fairly soft carbonation. Delicious.

Pours deep brown with some red on the highlights and a whisp of a tan head that lingers. The nose is spice, yeast, caramel, dried fruit and molasses, as is the flavor. Smooth on the palate and clean finish.
