Poured out a nice deep reddish brown brew with a decent foam up but excellent retention and lacing leaves plenty of the light brown crown behind. Lots & lots & lots of chunks! Comes out quickly with a medium strength complex spice and yeast, dark malts, dark berries, weak raisin, orangeish. Great flavours here: more of the same compared to the nose with clove and soft pepper coming out more, oak?, fig, lots of thick rich malts, weak alcohol. This turned out to be one beer that I would prefer to not let warm excessively as it started to fall apart. Smooth on the mouth, finishes sweet and invites you back for another sip. Highly drinkable. My cellar should find a home for a couple of these. freekyp (903), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA

It takes everything it means to be a Belgian ale, and pushes it one step further. Hyper effervescence, plummy sweetness and a long fruity finish support this heavy heady brew. A towering reddish tan head floats on this dark mahogany brew. The aroma is full of clove and other spices and reminds one of sugared plums. HighGravity (890), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

The nose is mainly spicy with a hint of orange marmalade and candi sugar. The finish is long and spicy (thyme). GodOfThunder (878), Orlando, Florida, USA

Flavors are malty, with a little more ginger snap cookie. The alcohol is hidden very well. Good Christmas strong ale. LoveCaissa (873), Copenhagen, Denmark

Rerate: I definately underrated this beer at 3.5. drpimento (873), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA

This one was better than most. I’m rating one I had a couple years back and have one on hand here, a ’97. But, I don’t know why I’m keeping it. Maybe hoping that age will turn silver into gold. Doubt it tho.
Now you take the Chouffe Coffee Liquer and mmmmm, mmm!
