2003 Vintage, 750mL bottle, served in a La Chouffe Tulip at aroudn 50ºF. Tawny color, pellucid with a creamy tan head. Light musky hops, sweet caramel with a touch of cinnamon & clove. Flavor has a touch of alcohol and the traditional belgian flavors to satiate the likes of me. Finishes with a medium body and ends rather briefly. I thought this was a very good winter Belgian and would like to be able to get it in town here in Boise.

I guess I’m a bit out on a limb here, but I just don’t find this too special. The whole thing is too dominated by treacle toffee and sweet molasses for my taste. Ended up with a massive head, however carefully I poured it. At first glance it appeared deep chocolate brown but, holding the glass up to the light, the underlying rich cherry colour was apparent. The aroma is vaguely herbal and spicy, but principally molasses and candy sugar. More of the same in the flavour. Treacle toffee. Very rich but, although there is enough acidity to prevent it from being too cloying it is still rather syrupy in texture for me. Quite nice, but nothing to rave about as far as I’m concerned. The high alcohol level is not intrusive. Anyone else find those cute gnomes intensely irritating by the way? Bottled (750ml), from beersofeurope.co.uk

Bottle from Party Source. Poured reddish brown color with an average frothy head that lasted with good lacing. Complex dark fruit and yeasty aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium fruity sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of long duration with a small alcohol bite. This is a good beer

Bottle. Pours a brown colour with a longlasting tan head. Sweet malty and spicy aroma. Very malty spicy and yeasty and sweet flavor. Warming malty sweet finish, with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottled A dark brown coloured beer with a little head. The aroma has candy sugar, spices and a little licquorice. The taste is similar with spices to the fore. Notes of coal in the mouth. Warming.

Dark with a great white foam. N’Ice has a malty/spicey aroma with alcohol vapours present. Flavours are both chocolate and vineous with Xmas spices. A great Xmas beer.

Deep and cloudy red brown with a good big head. Malt aroma with dried fruits and flowers too. Malty flavour, sweet without being overwhelming, some alcohol/wine notes too.

My first "Christmas" beer of the season, and a damn fine one at that. Pours great turbid dark brown with a medium, off-white head. Aroma of malt, barnyard, similar to Westy 12. Tastes malty, with great complexity and balance, and a slightly dry finish. I detected spices, florals, citrus, and dark fruits in the taste. A world class beer.
