updated 1/2006: cloudy reddish-brown colour with a rocky, brown-tainted head and a nice lacing; strong estery nose, notes of apple and melon; sweet with a robust malt backbone; long malty and fruity finish with notes of caramel and some residual sugars; a hint of warming alcohol brings the final touch to this very enjoyable beer

1/2001: bordeaux colour, banana aroma, spicy, sweet, full-bodied, spicy aftertaste

Malty and juicy with a belgian yeast flare. Lovely herbal, leafy tones placed over a chewy malt bedding. Decadency in a glass.

Nice beer if a little medicinal smelling. Serve slightly chilled and the flavor begains to take over. It tasted a bit more English then Belgian kind of like a citrusy Bass. I liked it quite a bit though hardly my fave. Just a quality beer with some nice touches. Unique plus the great bottle is beautifully ilustrated with notes on its history, ingredients and how to serve it.

Deep brown (black) body. Brownish frothy head, non-homogeneous. Good lacing. Spicy and lightly malty aroma. Lightly alcoholic, malty flavour: bitter sweet.

Ruby berries riding bubble rockets...Dry thyme raining on port wine lakes...Barley winish caramel malt and herbal hop bitterness sign off this hefty winter celebration...This ages beautifully, as was proved recently by a 3-year-old 2004 bottle.

On tap:. Dark red coloured with a decent medium lasting head. Lots of spiced in the aroma (seems like i""ve tasted coriander in all the beers tonight). Besides the coriander taste, this beer has a destinct taste of christmas. Theres cinnamon, green cardamom and cloves in the flavour. Has some sweetness in the palate.
